Wayland, Michigan, USA-based Denali Flavors, developers of the Moose Tracks flavor of ice cream, has unveiled its first-ever holiday-season offering. Based on the popular Yuletide festival recipe combination consisting of white chocolate, dark chocolate and peppermint candy, Peppermint Bark Moose Tracks will be licensed and sold under a variety of dairy and grocery store brands across the United States beginning in November. Package size and pricing will vary by manufacturer.
The historical origin of peppermint bark candy varies, depending on whom you ask. However, there is no dispute that this old holiday favorite has enjoyed resurgence during the past several years. In fact, it’s become a mainstream flavor in North America found in everything from yogurt and coffee creamers to spirits such as vodka. And while confectioners have offered the traditional candy for years, Peppermint Bark Moose Tracks represents the first time peppermint bark has been paired with Moose Tracks fudge to be offered as a decadent ice cream treat.
The offering features chunks of white chocolate peppermint bark combined with mint-flavored ice cream and piles of Moose Tracks.
“We develop new flavor concepts each year for our dairy and retail partners to review, and this year our Peppermint Bark Moose Tracks has been a favorite,” said Neal Glaeser, president of Denali Flavors. “The peppermint bark trend is happening in a big way right now, not just in confections but across the grocery store. In our case, the peppermint notes pair perfectly with Moose Tracks Fudge.”
The Original Moose Tracks ice cream flavor was introduced in the mid-1980’s by husband and wife entrepreneurs Wally and June Blume. Since then it has gone on to become one of the top-selling flavors of decadent-style ice cream in the United States. Denali Flavors subsequently developed several versions of Moose Tracks, including Chocolate Moose Tracks, Extreme! Moose Tracks, Mint Moose Tracks, and Brownie Moose Tracks, as well as other flavors such as Caramel Caribou. Today, six of Denali’s ice cream flavors are among the top 20% of decadent ice cream flavors sold in the nation.
