Newburyport, Massachusetts, USA-based Buen Sabor’s Chickpea & Sweet Potato Picadillo has received Non-GMO Project Verified status through the Non-GMO Project. Having passed rigorous evaluations and tests, use of an official seal has been granted to confirm that each of the ingredients included in the dish contain no genetically modified organisms.
“Providing consumers with real, clean food is at the core of our mission,” said Sarah Pike, Buen Sabor’s founder and ceo. “This verification is just one more point of validation for our efforts, and we look forward to earning the Non-GMO Project Verified seal for each of our products.”
Next in line is its Beef Picadillo Empanadas offering, which is made from grass fed and finished beef sourced in the US Pacific Northwest. From the beginning, all of the company’s products have been free of hormones, antibiotics and preservatives.
“We are excited to be working with Buen Sabor as they announce that its Chickpea & Sweet Potato Picadillo will now carry the Non-GMO Project Verified seal,” stated Megan Westgate, executive director of the Bellingham, Washington-headquartered Non-GMO Project. “When shoppers see this mark on a product, they can trust it’s been made in compliance with the best possible practices for GMO avoidance.”
Buen Sabor produces and curates specialty frozen food products with an ethnic twist. Its range incorporates traditional ingredients from many Latin American cuisines. Eight items are currently available at more than 200 retail locations in 32 states across the country.
