Deutsche See’s BBQ Grilled Salmon specialty won the Seafood Star Award in the most innovative new product category during the recently held Fish Economic Summit in Hamburg. It topped 42 other entries in fierce competition for the prize.
A special feature of the patented product is its salmon skin cord-wrapped jacket. This not only prevents burning on the grill grate, but also maximizes the smoky flavor of fish marinated in spicy barbecue sauce.
Made from frozen salmon blocks, the product is distributed in chilled form to more than 20 branch outlets in Germany operated by the Bremerhaven-headquartered company. Employing more than 1,600 people, Deutsche See produces a wide variety of value-added seafood items and serves over 35,000 customers in the retail, foodservice and institutional segments of the food business.
In addition to selling wild-caught fishery products, the company offers farm-raised and organic products, herring, smoked meat marinades and components, as well as gourmet salads, sauces, spreads, dips and delicatessen items sold under the Beeck brand. Its extensive range is sourced from suppliers around the world.
