Vegetable Fries produced by Ardo, Europe’s largest packer and marketer of frozen vegetable products, have won the INN 2015 Award for Best Innovation of the Year in the food category.
The recent competition, organized by Belgian retail magazine Gondola, and judged by a panel retail buyers and market research experts, lauded Ardo’s entry for its innovative character, as well as the natural and sweet taste of parsnip and carrot fries, which are prefried in sunflower oil.
Introduced under the Les Tapas range and enthusiastically received during the SIAL Exhibition in Paris last October, crunchy Vegetable Fries are presented as “a tasty snack” as well as an offering that “will liven up lots of dishes.” They are being promoted as a healthy-eating choice for school children and adults alike, as well as a “delicious alternative to classic potato fries.”
In addition to frozen vegetables, the Ardo Group produces and supplies rice, pasta, potatoes, herbs and fruits to retail, foodservice and industrial customers worldwide.
A family-owned and operated company, Ardo’s roots in the food business date back to the 1950s, when it started to grow and trade vegetables at the family farm near the village of Ardooie in Belgium. The village gave the company its name, and the farm provided the site for Ardo’s first vegetable freezing factory, built in 1977. Over the following years, Ardo developed its production and sales of frozen vegetables throughout Europe. Today it owns 20 production and packing units in eight European countries.
