The McLean, Virginia-headquartered American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) on July 14 launched the “AFFI Trade and Regulatory Database”, an online tool designed to help users navigate global regulatory policies that affect the trade of frozen fruit and vegetable products worldwide.
The database offers AFFI member companies the ability to analyze food safety and regulatory requirements in Canada, Chile, China, Codex, the European Union, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico and South Korea. It also provides foreign suppliers with information on US regulatory compliance requirements.
Regulatory issues covered by the database include packaging and labeling requirements, import requirements, tariffs and taxes, information on trade agreements and negotiations, and pesticide maximum residue Levels (MRLs) for a wide range of frozen fruits and vegetables, including blueberries, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, corn, green beans, peas, potatoes and strawberries.
“The new International Trade and Regulatory Database is designed to save frozen fruit and vegetable producers time and resources by providing them with a one-stop-shop for information on regulatory requirements,” said AFFI President and CEO Kraig R. Naasz. “This tool is part of our ongoing commitment to provide members with data and analysis that enhances their ability to conduct business around the globe.”
The information can be accessed on AFFI’s website (www.affi.org) and is free for members of the trade association.
