Bonduelle USA’s Brockport, New York production unit is recalling 9,335 cases of frozen corn because of its potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
The product was distributed to retail stores in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana in polybags under four private labels, detailed as follows:
- Wylwood Super Sweet Whole Kernel Corn, net weight 16 ounces, UPC 051933002401; Best by June 2017, Codes K51564 and K51574
- Market Basket Cut Corn, net weight 16 ounces, UPC 049705693414; Best by June 2017 ( K51574)
- Bountiful Harvest Whole Kernel Cut Corn, net weight 40 ounces, UPC 822486120597; Best by June 2017 (K51574)
- West Creek Cut Corn, net weight 2.5 pounds, UPC 00806795285239; Best by June 2017 (K51574)
The producer, a member of the Villeneuve d’Ascq, France-headquartered Bonduelle Group, has thus far received no complaints in relation to these products, and is not aware of any illnesses associated with them.
Sixteen-ounce packs of Wylwood Super Sweet Whole Kernel Corn are among four private labels produced by Bonduelle that have been recalled.The recall was the result of random testing of retail packs in Tennessee, which proved positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Bonduelle has ceased distribution of the product and is cooperating with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to determine what caused the problem.
