Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, USA-based Huisken Meat Company is recalling approximately 89,568 pounds of Sam’s Choice private label frozen beef products that may be contaminated with extraneous wood materials, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on January 4.
The Sam’s Choice Black Angus Vadalia Onion Beef Patties were produced on various dates between November 19 and December 9, 2015, and carry “Use By” dates of 05/17/2016, 05/29/2016, and 06/06/2016.
Distributed in 907-gram six-packs bearing the establishment number “EST. 394A” inside the USDA mark of inspection, they were shipped to retail locations nationwide. The foreign material originated with an incoming ingredient and was discovered at the plant during production.
Thus far there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Persons concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider, while consumers who have purchased these products and not yet consumed the patties are urged to thrown them away or return the packs to place of purchase.
