The Ottawa-headquartered Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) on January 29 issued a warning to people with allergies to egg products not to consume to contents of 900-gram Northern King Fish Fingers packs bearing product code 30111 and UPC 0 61391 21958 7. It said that retailers, restaurant operators and institutional kitchens are not to sell or use the product.
The frozen oven-ready fish fingers, made with minced fillets, have been distributed by Tai Foong International (TFI) in Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and possibly other provinces. Thus far there have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of this product.
The CFIA’s warning was triggered by test results. It is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of this or other products. If products are recalled, the agency will notify the public through a Food Recall Warning.
