Approaching its 20th anniversary next year, the Global Aquaculture Alliance has unveiled a refreshed brand identity acknowledging the nonprofit organization’s legacy of feeding the world through responsible aquaculture while better positioning it for growth and greater appeal.
The centerpiece of the refreshed brand identity is a new logo symbolized by a globe sheltered by a fish. Featuring a color palette of brightly warm blue and lime green, it is designed to be readily identifiable to consumers in that a fish and the word “Aquaculture” are prominently displayed.
“GAA was founded nearly 20 years ago, when the future of aquaculture was clouded by criticism. Much has been accomplished since then,” said GAA President George Chamberlain. “We are proud to have engaged with the entire value chain in a journey of continuous improvement toward sustainability. As we pause to reflect and refresh, we feel even more committed to our mission of engagement and improvement toward a bright and sustainable future.”
Both the Alliance and the Global Aquaculture Advocate, its information platform, have adopted the revamped brand identity, which will be gradually rolled out across GAA properties, beginning with websites and social media outlets. Meanwhile, the logo for the organization’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program remains unchanged.
The new logo better aligns with GAA’s long-term goal of educating consumers about the benefits of responsible aquaculture, which was also the theme of the Alliance’s GOAL 2015 conference. It reflects GAA’s mission of promoting responsible aquaculture practices through education, advocacy and demonstration, and the growth that the organization expects over the next 20 years.
Later this year, GAA will launch an online community geared toward professionals looking to advance their aquaculture careers and toward consumers seeking more information on responsible aquaculture. A digital file of the new GAA and Advocate logos are available for download in the GAA marketing toolkit.
