Americold announced on July 25 that it has concluded the purchase of the temperature-controlled storage facility at 1239 Oakleigh Drive, East Point, Georgia, bolstering the company’s Georgia-based facility network to 15 offering more than 90 million cubic feet of capacity. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
“We’re fortunate to be supporting some very successful food producers and retailers who are rapidly expanding throughout the southeastern United States,” said Fred Boehler, president and ceo of Atlanta-headquartered Americold, the world’s largest operator of public refrigerated warehouses. “The East Point site [which is expected to add more than 60 new jobs as it ramps up operations during the second half of 2016] is centrally accessible within the Atlanta metro area and is a critical component of our Atlanta distribution strategy. It will complement our existing network very well.”
In the USA, Americold owns and operates more than 150 facilities in every major food production and consumption market across 35 states. Its services run the gamut from public refrigerated warehouses and port-specific facilities to customer-dedicated sites, managed facilities, and national less-than truckload and truck load transportation program.
