The clock is ticking for the opening of the 18th International Frozen Seafood Products Exhibition (Conxemar), which runs from October 4-6 in the port city of Vigo, Spain. While fish is the main dish at this show, there will be also plenty of manufacturers of chips and other products on the scene, which will host stands occupied by food producers and suppliers, distributers, equipment manufacturers, logistics experts and representatives of other segments of the industry who will make good use of 31,500 square meters of exhibition space.
A day before the fair kicks off, the World Congress on Cephalopods will take place on October 3. Co-organized by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Conxemar, it has become a benchmark event for the trade and global fishing authorities as well as renowned scientists.
This 5th Edition of the World Congress will focus on raw material shortages of this product family, as well as international market performance and future prospects. Fisheries ministers, FAO experts and industry executives will address the gathering.

Brugge, Belgium-based Vichiunai Europe will hold forth at Stand J11. The surimi products specialist, which has a factory in Spain as well as six additional production facilities in other countries, ranks as Europe’s largest manufacturer of value-added surimi products, producing more than 82,000 metric tons of finished goods per annum. Its Vici brand retail line ranges from Fleur de Surimi and Surimi with Cottage Cheese and Dill Filling, to Crab Sticks with Salmon Filling, Chocolate Surimi Bites with Coconut Filling, Snow Crab Meat Kamciatka and Surimi Royal.
