Pinguin, the Westrozebeke, Belgium-headquartered frozen food processing and marketing company that has been a unit of Sint-Katelijne-Waver-based Greenyard since 2015, has officially changed its name to Greenyard Frozen. The announcement was made on January 9.
Greenyard Frozen is a pioneer in the European frozen food market. For 50 years it has produced a large array of fresh-frozen vegetables, herbs, fruits and ready meals for distribution to retail, industrial and foodservice accounts. Its foodservice products are bundled under the well-known Pinguin brand, which will still be used.
With 10 production sites in Europe, Greenyard Frozen processes over 400,000 tons of product per year and provides employment for 1,597 people. Factories are strategically situated in five countries (Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Poland and Hungary), and subsidiaries and sales offices span five continents to ensure consumers in over 80 nations can readily procure its extensive range of nutritious, convenient and easy-to-prepare products.
The combined Greenyard operation counts approximately 8,200 employees active in 25 countries worldwide, with annual turnover of almost EUR 4 billion. In addition to Frozen, its three other divisions consist of UNIVEG (fresh produce), Peltracom (horticulture) and Noliko (canned vegetables).
“We are certain that the many synergies within Greenyard will benefit our clients and appeal to their needs,” said Hans Luts, managing director of Greenyard Frozen.
