The Villeneuve d’Ascq, France-headquartered Bonduelle Group on February 1 reported that revenues in the first half of fiscal 2016-17 amounted to approximately EUR 1.025 billion, an increase of + 1.9% on a like-for-like basis and a gain of + 1.4% based on reported figures.
Second quarter sales results for the vegetable processing company, marked by a slowdown of economic activity in Europe at the end of the period, and a high comparison basis in Russia, was down by -0.3% like-by-like and by -0.5% based on reported figures.
Consolidated sales for the first half in the Europe Zone slipped by -0.8%, while receipts realized in the Non-Europe Zone increased at a healthy +6.6% clip. Second quarter sales declined in the Euro Zone by -2.4%, while rising +2.8% in Non-Europe Zone markets.
Frozen vegetable sales showed the best operating performance percentage wise among market segments, thanks to a rebound in foodservice business. Revenue of EUR 318.8 million was up +7% in the first half, and receipts of EUR 170.4 million reflected a +4.5% gain in the second quarter.
Canned vegetables, the largest segment, generated turnover of EUR 504.5 million (-0.3%) in the first half, and EUR 292.3 million (-2.7%) in the second quarter.
Sales in the fresh processed sector were flat at EUR 202.4 million in the first half, and down -1.3% at EUR 93.3 million in the second quarter.
