The Long John Silver’s seafood restaurant chain in the United States has added hand-breaded Homestyle Buttermilk Cod to its summer menu. Selling for $5.99 through August 27, the dish comes with french fries and hushpuppies. Diners are invited to upgrade to a meal with cole slaw or another signature side dish for an extra charge.
“The light flavor of the cod balances really well with the tangy flavor of the buttermilk. It has a big crunchy bite, and the light, flaky fish smoothes it out. It really is delightful,” said Peter Czizek, vice president of culinary innovation and quality assurance for the Louisville, Kentucky-headquartered QSR operator.
Long John Silver’s wild-caught Alaskan Cod is soured from the North Pacific Ocean, which is ranked as one of the best-managed and most sustainable fisheries in the world. Flash-frozen aboard fishing boats shortly after harvest, the GMO-free fish contains no antibiotics, hormones, additives, artificial colors or flavoring.
Meanwhile, Fish & Fries is available for a limited time at the bargain price of $1.99. The combo deal features one piece of breaded pollock.
