It’s back! Crabfest, promoted as “the ultimate celebration of everything crab,” is prominently on the menu again at Red Lobster restaurants in North America. For a limited time, diners will have the opportunity to indulge in the largest number of wild-caught crab species all year, including two new options – Pacific Northwest Dungeness and Southern King Crab harvested from the waters of Argentina.
“Crab is one of the most craveable seafoods, which explains why our guests love Crabfest. We’re excited about the variety of flavors and types of crabs we are offering this year, as well as the different culinary preparations,” said Dustin Hilinski, the chain’s executive chef and culinary director. “Crab legs and crab cakes are always great choices, but crab is also delicious as an ingredient in a dip, sandwich or pasta, or as a topping on steak or salmon. During Crabfest, guests can really have it any way they want.”
Indeed, there are numerous possibilities starting with Dueling Crab Legs boasting Pacific Northwest Dungeness and sweet-eating Snow Crab. Another pairing features Southern King Crab Leg Dinner and Wild-Caught Snow Crab Legs.
For those who like crustaceans in combination with other seafood favorites, there are a variety of new choices including Crab Cakes and Crab-Oscar Salmon, Crabfest Ultimate Surf & Turf, and Shrimp-topped Crab Cake Dinner.
Finally, several guest favorite items are returning to the Crabfest table: Crab Lover’s Dream, Ultimate Feast and Crab Linguini Alfredo.
During the Crabfest extravaganza customers may also order a limited-time crab appetizer – the new Three-Cheese Crab Dip. It’s a creamy blend of blue crabmeat and cream cheese, mozzarella and Monterey jack cheeses, served with warm artisan bread.
Red Lobster has kicked off Crabfest with an advertising campaign entitled “Now This is Seafood.” It taps into a multi-sensory, multi-frame approach that communicates craveability in a vibrant way. Music is used rather than the traditional voiceover to orchestrate sounds of the kitchen and restaurant, coupled with fast-paced visuals that show the food from preparation to plate.
