The Comfy Cow, a Louisville, Kentucky, USA-headquartered ice cream producer, is voluntarily recalling pints of Banana Puddin Y’all, Chocolate Squared2, Cookies and Cream, Cow Trax, Double Fold Vanilla, Georgia Butter Pecan, Intense Dark Chocolate, Salted Caramel and Strawberry Fields Forever due to possible contamination of E. coli. The potentially deadly bacteria can cause diarrhea and dehydration, though most people infected by it recover.
The products were distributed between June 13 and July 21, primarily to retail stores located in the states of Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, and Tennessee. Comfy Cow was notified of the contamination through random sample testing. To date no illnesses have been reported.
“The company assures that all proper protocol and procedures have been followed in recalling the products,” said spokesman Tim Koons-McGee. “Our top priority is guaranteeing the safety of all our loyal customers.”
Consumers who have bought these products are urged to discard them or return them to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. Persons with questions are invited to call the production facility’s customer service department at +1 502-384-2556.
