Conagra Brands is recalling approximately 135,159 pounds of frozen Banquet brand Salisbury steak products (made with chicken, pork and beef) in the United States that may be contaminated with bone fragments, the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on April 11.
The 27-ounce family size Salisbury Steak and Brown Gravy SKUs were produced at the company’s factory in Russellville, Arkansas on March 10, 2018. Each carton contains six steaks and is identified by lot code 5006 8069 10 05 and a “Best By” date of Sept. 01, 2019. Products subject to recall bear the USDA mark of inspection with establishment number “P-115” located on the side panel of the retail package.
The problem was discovered after Conagra received several consumer complaints and three reports of minor oral injury associated with consumption of the product. Persons who have purchased the Salisbury steaks are urged not to consume them. Instead, they should be thrown away or returned to the store for a refund.
Two Recalls in Canada
In Canada, meanwhile, the Groupe Adonis retail chain is recalling
Montana brand frozen strawberries imported from Egypt due to possible Hepatitis A contamination. The 1-kilogram (35-ounce) packs, distributed exclusively at Adonis stores in Quebec and Ontario, have the following UPC code: 6222000401487.
This recall was triggered by findings during an investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a thorough food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.
Elsewhere in Canada, Vancouver-based Seoul Trading Corp. is recalling 480-gram packs of frozen Dong Won brand Shrimp Cutlet from the retail market because they contains egg ingredients that were not declared on the label. People allergic to eggs should not consume the product, which has a UPC code of 8 801047 321842 on its packaging.
The recall was initiated by CFIA test results. Thus far there have been no reported allergic reactions associated with the consumption of the product.
