In celebrating its half-century in business this year, the Tippmann Group has released a video entitled “50 Years of Cold Storage Excellence.” Founded as a construction company by John Tippmann, Sr. in 1968, the Fort Wayne, Indiana-headquartered organization today ranks as the biggest privately held refrigerated warehousing operator in the United States and one of the largest cold storage and food processing plant construction contractors in the country.

Tippmann 50 yearDuring the past 50 years Tippmann has built facilities containing more than 17 million square feet of temperature controlled warehousing and processing space, and currently maintains over 100 million cubic feet of cold storage space at its Interstate Warehousing facilities in six states.

“When my father started this business, he wanted to be sure that customers’ needs came first,” said John Tippmann, Jr., president of the Tippmann Group. “It’s no different in 2018. We continue to remain focused on customers because they are the reason we are still here today.”

The third-generation family-owned enterprise, which employs 1,200 people, built and opened its first Interstate Cold Storage facility in Fort Wayne back in 1972. Today’s network boasts three facilities in Indiana and one each in Tennessee, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Ohio.

Adhering to core values and ever providing what customers expect “and then giving a little bit more” is what has guided the company’s success over the years, pointed out John Tippmann, Sr. The founder and chairman added: “If you surround yourself with talented people, hard-working, people, people with good morals and the desire to accomplish something, you will do pretty well.”
