Central Foods, a Collingtree, England-based foodservice sector distribution specialist, has boosted its range of frozen wraps. The newly introduced KaterBake spinach wrap joins pumpkin and beetroot offerings in the expanding line, as demand for such fare continues to increase.

cf graphic01“Our wraps have been a great success with foodservice professionals because of their taste, looks, appeal and versatility,” said Gordon Lauder, the company’s managing director. “We have now extended the range to include a 12-inch spinach-flavored wrap which will provide a colorful addition to the menu. All three are suitable for vegans and vegetarians and provide a source of fiber.”

The latest launch comes as it was revealed that wraps and flatbreads have become two of the three most popular lunchtime options in the United Kingdom. British consumers today favor them over traditional sandwiches, according to a survey by Spitalfields Market.

“There’s a very good reason why wraps and flatbreads are so popular,” said Gordon. “Not only do they provide a really tasty carrier for a world of flavors, they are also versatile, easy to prepare and can be served at a range of meal occasions – whether that’s breakfast, lunch or dinner…or any time in between.”

All KaterBake wraps can be defrosted or warmed in a conventional oven or microwave oven before serving, and have a defrosted shelf life of two days. They are available to order in two packs of 20.

Central Foods supplies more than 400 different lines into the foodservice channel. SKUs range from vegetarian and free-from items to meat products, baked goods and canapés, buffet fare, desserts and puddings. The company currently sells to more than 220 independent wholesalers, as well as to larger national and regional wholesalers, and foodservice caterers.
