Alois Hofbauer has been named chief executive officer of Singapore-headquartered Regal Springs Group, which employs approximately 7,000 people engaged in farm-raising and processing tilapia in Indonesia, Mexico and Honduras. He replaces Achim Eichenlaub, who has been at the helm for the past three years.
Hofbauer brings 25 years of executive experience to the job. He most recently served as ceo of the Riyadh, Saudi Arabia-based Almarai Group, a food and beverage manufacturing enterprise. Prior to that, for five years through November of 2018, the Austrian was ceo of Nestlé Malaysia Bhd. The Austrian native has also held top posts as managing director of Nestlé Taiwan and Nestlé Sri Lanka.
Regal Springs, a unit of the Golden Springs Group since 2016, raises tilapia in deep-water lakes, where spacious floating nets allow the fish to swim in large spaces and against water currents, just as in the wild. Eating only high quality food made from soybeans, corn and grains, the tilapia are produced without the use of antibiotics, growth hormones or chemicals.
“I am delighted that Alois is taking up this important leadership role for us,” stated Regal Springs Chairman Markus Haefeli. “He is a very experienced executive and brings with him the right blend of skills to continue our Regal Springs’ global strategy, commercial ambitions and will maintain our values.”
Taking the opportunity to thank outgoing CEO Eichenlaub for his service and wish him the best for the future, Haefeli added: “Achim established our Singapore headquarters and shaped our transformation into a globally integrated commercially focused business that is now enjoying double-digit sales growth. And we now have a solid new product pipeline to build more continued success.”
