The Louisville, Kentucky-based Joella’s Hot Chicken fast casual restaurant chain is bringing Crispy Cod Sammie back to the menu for a limited time, along with a Cod Plate option. The specialty fish products will be available during the Lenten season at all 19 Joella’s outlets in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
Customers will be able to order the double beer-battered fried North Atlantic wild-caught cod offerings beginning February 17 through April 4. The Crispy Cod Sammie and Plate can be prepared seasoned at any of Joella’s six heat levels including Southern (no heat), Spiked Honey, Ella’s Fav, Tweener, Hot, and Fire-In Da-Hole (extremely hot).
The Crispy Cod Sammie is topped with sweet vinegar slaw, pickles, and Bama White dippin’ sauce. For $9.50, guests will get the Sammie with their choice of one Southern-style side dish. And new this year, Joella’s will also offer the Crispy Cod Plate, which includes two pieces of fish with dippin’ sauce on the side. The price for a plate is $10.50 with one side dish, or $11.50 with two sides. If ordered spiced with a heat level, the meal will be served on top of a piece of white bread in traditional hot chicken plating.
“We are excited to offer this seasonal favorite to our customers during the Lenten period,” said Christina Happel, regional vice president of operations for the restaurant chain. “The Crispy Cod Sammie and Plate are the best of both worlds: full of Joella’s signature flavor yet paired with the fixins associated with a traditional fish sandwich or meal.”
In addition to the limited time fish options now available, Joella’s year-round menu features Jumbo Tenders, Big Wings, and Chicken and Waffles paired with Southern-style side dishes including Creamy Mac & Cheese, Green Beans with Bacon, Collard Greens with Bacon, Sweet Vinegar Slaw, and Kale Crunch Salad.
