Emiel Lommen has been appointed as managing director of Tiefkühlkost GmbH, a unit of the Frostkrone Food Group. While the announcement was made on March 2, he has been on the job since the beginning of the year.
Rietberg, Germany-headquartered Frostkrone is part of family of companies that produce a wide assortment of frozen snacks and appetizers at six sites in Europe, the UK and USA. The range runs the gamut from mozzarella sticks and vegetable nuggets to gold buns, onion rings, cheddar jalapeños, pizza pockets, chipotle bites, roesti sticks, chicken pops, corny dogs and more.
“There are few things in the food sector that are as fascinating and exciting as the finger food and snacks segment, and here at Frostkrone we’re always rethinking creations and not letting any boundaries come into play,” said Lommen. “The range of tasks that are now in front of me are exceptionally diverse.”
The managing director has a track record with the company dating back to 2017. Initially hired as a key account manager for foodservice, he soon ran the Breda office in the Netherlands as business unit manager for the foodservice channel. From there Lommen led a team that managed the entire Frostkrone Tiefkühlkost foodservice business.
“The appointment of Emiel Lommen means a very competent and internationally experienced manager is now taking over leadership the company. He has demonstrated convincing commitment, foresight and experience in recent years,” said CEO Frédéric Dervieux.
Comprehensive Strategic and Operational Experience
Lommen is heading up operations at two locations in Germany and is charged with gearing up business development. The managing director, who has had the opportunity to familiarize himself with his new responsibilities over the last few months, remarked:
“I am well aware of the responsibilities of the position. Frostkrone is very ambitious and pursues significant goals. I very much look forward to playing a leading role in achieving them.”
Lommen is a graduate of the University of Vliessingen (Holland), where he studied International business and languages. After finishing his degree, the Dutch national was employed by Lamb Weston for about 14 years in a variety of different positions before making the decision to join Frostkrone. The father of two is proficient in multiple languages, including German, English, French and Spanish, as well as his native tongue.
Strong Team on the Scene
With Lommen’s appointment, the Frostkrone Food Group now has managing directors in place at each of its locations. They report to the senior management team of Dervieux and Matthias Bross, who steer the overall organization.
“This ensures that decisions related to the individual locations can be made and then coordinated more quickly and without any unnecessary detours,” said Dervieux. “As a result of the close cooperation, we are always attuned to the group’ s objectives and can mutually support each other in achieving them.”
In addition to Frostkrone Tiefkühlkost GmbH and Bornholter Käsevertriebs- und Produktionsgesellschaft GmbH in Germany, the Group’s members include Piz’wich Europe SAS and Varenne Gastronomie SAS in France, Rite Stuff Foods, Inc. in the United States, and Innovate Foods Ltd. in the United Kingdom.
For both this year and next, the group intends to continue to work on expanding product distribution the retail and foodservice sectors of markets served in Europe, Britain, Asia and North America.
