Baked goods manufacturer and ingredients supplier Dawn Foods has acquired Bielsko-Biala, Poland-based Jabex, a family-owned manufacturer specializing in supplying fruit-based products to the bakery industry.
The deal, announced on March 31, expands Jackson, Michigan, USA-headquartered Dawn’s global manufacturing footprint and strengthens its operations and supply chain in Central and Eastern Europe. It also creates opportunities to better serve and meet the needs of Dawn’s customers in this region.
In addition to the benefits of enhanced geographic reach, the Jabex portfolio complements products Dawn currently offers. By combining the catalogs of both organizations, Dawn strengthens its scope of quality fruit-based products.
“This acquisition is an exciting expansion of our manufacturing capabilities and customer base in Europe,” said Carrie Jones-Barber, Dawn Foods’ chief executive officer. “We look forward to working with new team members from Jabex to deliver our insights, innovations and bakery expertise to even more customers, together.”
Founded over 30 years ago, Jabex operates two production facilities, one of which is located close to orchards in the fruit region of Poland. It works with more than 300 companies in 30 countries and provides employment for 54 people, all of whom will remain on the payroll and play a crucial role in the integration of the business with Dawn.
Dawn Foods partners with more than 50,000 artisanal and retail bakers, foodservice operators and manufacturers in over 100 countries. In business for more than a century, it employs approximately 4,000 people around the world.
