The Serendipity3 restaurant, an iconic New York City landmark and home of Frrrozen Hot Chocolate, unveiled its latest menu item in collaboration with celebrity partner and investor Selena Gomez on September 1.

The Selena Sundae is selling at a pricey $29.95, ten percent of which is being donated to the Rare Impact Fund, a charity committed to expanding access to mental health services in educational settings.

The recipe is inspired by Selena’s flavor, Cookies & Cream Remix, in collaboration with Serendipity Brands, which markets a retail range of super-premium and indulgent ice cream pints influenced by the desserts made famous by the Serendipity3 eatery. It features three scoops of Cookies & Cream ice cream, along with Banana, Hot Fudge, Cream-Filled Cookie Crumbles, Pink Sugar, Whipped Cream and a Cherry on top.

The new product comes just one year after Gomez, an award-winning singer, songwriter, actress and producer, became an owner, investor, and partner in Serendipity3 and Serendipity Brands. The restaurant, located at 225 East 60th Street in Manhattan, reopened its doors after shutting down during the height of the coronavirus pandemic (SARS-CoV-2) that hit the New York area hard. While closed, renovations to the flagship location took place, as seen in the photo below.

“My memories at Serendipity date back to when I was a kid and I came to New York City for the first time,” said Gomez. “I’ve always loved this restaurant, and I am excited to celebrate its reopening by adding a sundae I created.”

The Selena Sundae is now a regular feature item on the menu that includes classics as well as new upgrades, including the Infamous Truffle Burger with Boursin Cheese & Black Truffle Mayo, and the It’s My Birthday Cake Sundae that includes Cake Batter Ice Cream, a giant piece of Cake, Whipped Cream, Hot Fudge, & a Cherry on top.

Known for its popular dishes and decadent desserts, Serendipity3 has been popular among millions of patrons since opening for business in 1954, attracting a large celebrity following including contemporaries Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Cher, Kim Kardashian and many others. Among film stars and artists frequenting the premises in its early years were Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. The restaurant has served nearly 30 million of its signature menu item, Frrrozen Hot Chocolate, which features a proprietary blend of 14 exotic cocoas. Serendipity3 has been the setting of three major Hollywood-produced movies: One Fine Day (1996) with George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer; Serendipity (2001) with John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale; and Trust The Man (2005) with Julianne Moore and David Duchovny.
