Fido to go!, which bills itself as “the first original dog and cat treat food truck in the nation,” will soon be dishing out doggie ice cream and frozen yogurt in Southern California. Among the popular treats on the menu are Cookie Crush, Birthday Cake, Sweet Potato, Chicken Club, Bacon and Cheese, and Duck.
Founded by Donna Santucci in 2011, Fido to go! Recently signed a licensing agreement with Anthony and Krista Misitano, creating a new West Coast route. Starting in early October, they will begin building their own Fido to go! truck tradition near Huntington Dog Beach, the pooh-friendly oceanfront playground situated along the Pacific Coast Highway in Orange County.
The company made its debut in Chicago, quickly becoming a beloved sight for Chi-Town dog lovers as it traveled to parks, festivals and other events across the city.
In addition to ice cream and frozen yogurts, products include a wide range of bagged snacks including freeze dried beef heart medallions, beef and veggie morsels, beef liver bites, chicken breast tenders, turkey/salmon/duck nibbles and other nibbles for cats and dogs; semi-soft tarts, pockets and cookies flavored with bacon, cheese, chicken, cheeseburger, venison, salmon, and more; and PupCups, a non-dairy, diabetic-friendly, gluten and grain-free treat for older dogs or those with special dietary needs.
All offerings, including chew products, are made from natural and organic ingredients free of corn, egg, gluten, grain, soy, sugar, additives and preservatives.
“I’m so happy to partner with Anthony and Krista, and I know that people out West are going to love Fido to go! just much as they do here in Chicago,” said Santucci. “They are also both dog lovers, so they’re as committed to excellence in service and food quality as I am. I can’t wait to see the social media pictures and hear all the new stories of dog owners and their pets who will get to experience the truck for the first time.”
