JD’s Vegan has been launched in the United States by Grammy Award-winning hip hop artist and music producer Jermaine Dupri, in partnership with Big Innovations Group Inc. The plant-based brand of ice cream is GMO-free and contains no lactose or artificial ingredients.
Three rich and creamy offerings have debuted in advance of the winter holiday season, each retailing for $6.47 per container. The flavors are: Welcome to Atlanta Peach Cobbler, accented with slices of golden peaches and crumbled cobbler; Apple Butter, featuring crisp apples whipped into a fine buttery spread and then stirred with a toasted cinnamon streusel crumble; and Strawberry Sweetheart, creamy strawberry puree swirls and strawberry chunks dipped into coconut cream.
These trio of treats became available for purchase exclusively online at Walmart.com on November 16, and will for sale in Walmart stores across the USA starting December 28.
Walmart will roll out three more flavors from JD’s Vegan portfolio nationally next month: Chocolate My Way, Key Lime Pie, and (404) Cookies & Cream.
A devout vegan for nearly 15 years, Dupri worked with international dessert expert Malcolm Stogo to make his alt-milk vegan ice cream range.
“Walmart and I share the same vision of providing consumers with the best products and making healthy alternatives accessible to everyone,” said Dupri. “The ice creams taste as good as, or better than, the real thing. You don’t have to lose anything going vegan.”
This line of dairy-free frozen desserts is inspired by the flavors of Atlanta and made with coconut. This tropical drupe creates the buoyant base for the flavors of JD’s Vegan. Smooth and nutty with a mild hint of coconut cream, these desserts are thick in consistency to deliver the rich, gratifying taste of ice cream.
This is not Dupri’s first foray into the food and beverage industry. In 2019 the entrepreneurial Atlanta rapper and recording executive bought a minority stake in The Slush Naturals Company Inc., which sells vegan, plant-based juices.
