Portland, Oregon-based producers of CHKN Not Chicken, the plant-based poultry alternative marketed as making it “easy to eat less meat, live healthier, and be kinder to the planet,” has been introduced at more than 370 Sprouts Farmers Market stores in the United States. Shoppers can now find the range in the retailer’s frozen plant-based meat section.
Sprouts is offer customers four varieties promoted as “replicating all the juiciness, texture, and flavor of chicken.” The flavors are: Naked CHKN (original), Zen CHKN (with Asian spices and ginger), Fiesta CHKN (Mexican spices and citrus), and BBQ CHKN (sweet and savory barbecue).
The shredded and ready-to-cook products consist of a pea protein base, and are gluten-free, soy-free and is non-GMO with 20 grams of protein and 140 calories per serving. Each is distributed in 8 oz. pouches offered at a suggested retail of $7.99.
