Magnavale, one of the United Kingdom’s leading refrigerated warehouse service providers, reports significant progress on construction of a new extension at the Chesterfield cold storage facility.
The company, which also operates at sites in Scunthorpe, Warrington and Easton, is currently working on a number of other schemes designed to reshape the sector, with £130 million investment going into further development at Easton.
Since breaking ground in Chesterfield earlier this year, the project has reached several important milestones, bringing the facility closer to its expected completion date in late 2024. Concrete foundations have already been poured, and over the course of the summer the focus will be on steel work construction. Once operational, 25,000 pallet positions added to existing capacity of 40,000 at Chesterfield will make it one of the largest coldstores in the area.
This expansion will not only accommodate the increasing volumes of Magnavale’s existing customer base, but will also open doors to new clients. The facility, strategically situated off the M1 motorway, will feature a comprehensive portfolio of value-added services that encompass blast freezing, microwave up-tempering and contract packing.
