Meat-free Shicken Tikka Kebab Skewers have been added to the portfolio of frozen products distributed to foodservice operators by Collingtree, England-based Central Foods. Accented with medium-spiced vegan tikka marinade, the faux chicken pieces are threaded onto biodegradable bamboo skewers. Weighing in at approximately 80 grams each, they are available in packs of two, with each containing ten sticks.

Suitable for vegetarians and vegans, Shicken Tikka Kebab Skewers are promoted as ideal for buffets, tapas, starters, sharing platters, main meals and as fillings or toppings to flatbreads.

“There’s an increasing awareness that eating more plant-based food has a positive impact on health and the environment. Our aim is to offer delicious meat-free alternatives that will appeal to all, not just those with dietary requirements,” said Central Foods Managing Director Gordon Lauder.

“These delicious products are super versatile and make a great addition to menus for any daypart,” said Parm Bains, chief executive officer of Shicken Foods. “Our range offers the highest quality plant-based kebabs. Adding them as menu options has never been more accessible in the UK and we are very excited to be working with the Central Foods’ team.”

Based in Dartford, Kent, Shicken Foods is a family-run enterprise specializing in plant-based Indian cuisine that includes a retail line of restaurant-quality curries as well as kebabs. In its first year of trading, frozen Tikka Kebabs were launched into 29 UK Costco outlets and two overseas stores in Iceland and France. By now it has secured listings for Shicken Tikka Masala and Shicken Korma Curry (pictured below) in more than 450 Tesco stores throughout Britain, and exports are being shipped to three of the largest grocery retailers in Iceland – Hagkaup, Kronan and Netto.
