Banza, the maker of a growing line of chickpea-based comfort foods, has launched Protein Waffles in three varieties: Homestyle, Blueberry and Chocolate Chip. They are now available at all Whole Foods Market locations and online for $6.49 per package.

This marks the New York-based company’s initial foray into the breakfast category and second offering in the frozen aisle since the debut of Banza Pizza in October of 2020, which was followed with introductions of pasta, mac & cheese and rice products.

Banza Protein Waffles are made with chickpeas and said to offer 2.5 times more protein, 3 times more fiber, and 35% fewer net carbs than the leading waffle brand on the retail market.

“We’re thrilled to introduce our first breakfast product,” said Brian Rudolph, chief executive officer and co-founder of Banza. “Our customers told us they want breakfast to be quick, delicious, and nutritious. By turning chickpeas into waffles, we’re aiming to hit all three while forwarding our mission of inspiring people to eat more chickpeas and other beans.”

In business since 2014, today Banza is ranked as the fifth largest pasta company in the USA and the leading brand in the better-for-you category.
