Following on from the successful debut of Real Frozen Bananas Dipped in Chocolate in the United Kingdom during the beginning of this year, Pukpip’s next sweet treat in development, Real Banana Bites, is scheduled for launch in March of 2024. The product features 16 slices, or “bites,” of frozen banana, dipped in milk chocolate, dark chocolate or peanut butter.

Packaged in resealable pouches for consumers to be able to easily grab and share straight from the freezer, both the dark chocolate and the peanut butter variants are vegan, and each pouch will contain four servings retailing at a suggested price of £3.99 to £4.50.

The Pukpip brand, distributed by the Guayaquil, Ecuador-headquartered Semvra Group, debuted in Britain in January of 2023 with retail boxes containing three frozen bananas dipped in milk or dark chocolate. The frozen fruit innovator then added a third white chocolate variant in July alongside the launch of singles available to hospitality and convenience retail markets.

“Following the fantastic response to our frozen bananas, we are super excited to bring a sharing bag option to shelves,” said Managing Director Zara Godfrey.

Pukpip’s bananas are responsibly sourced along the coastal region of Ecuador and quick frozen. Selecting bananas that have been rejected for export due to small imperfections on their skin, because they’re the wrong shape or size, or simply because there are too many on a bunch, Pukpip makes good use of fruit that would otherwise go to waste. Furthermore, the peels are then upcycled back into the
ecosystem.

The indulgent frozen fruit category has already been proven in the US, and with discussion in the UK rightly focussed on ultra processed foods now, we know consumers are looking for more real fruit products without artificial ingredients.” said Godfrey. “Our Real Banana Bites are made with real banana slices and chocolate or peanut butter – nothing artificial. Bites deliver on convenience as well as permissible indulgence, allowing consumers to treat themselves, while getting more fruit into the diet.”
