Approximately 61,839 pounds of Trader Joe’s Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings (SKU# 54988) with a best by date 03.07.25, lot code C1-1 or C1-2 and establishment number P-46009 are being recalled due to the potential presence of foreign material, specifically hard plastic from a permanent marker pen. The frozen appetizer, distributed to stores throughout the United States in 6 oz (170g) boxes containing six-piece tray packs, was produced by CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corporation on December 7, 2023.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS) on March 2 announced the contamination was reported by consumers who complained about finding plastic in the product. There have been no confirmed incidents of adverse reactions or injuries associated with eating the soup dumplings.

Persons who have the appetizers stored in home freezers are urged not to heat and eat them. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.

Consumers with questions about the recall are asked to contact CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corporation’s consumer experience department at 1-800-544-6855.
