ARCOLD, a division of ARCO Design/Build that specializes in refrigerated facility and cold storage construction, has broken ground for a G&C Foods cold storage distribution center in Alachua, Florida. A ceremony marking the event was attended by local government and community officials.
Headquartered in Syracuse, New York, G&C is a redistributor of frozen, refrigerated and dry food, including Certified Angus Beef brand products. The company recently expanded its reach across the United States and ventured into international markets, including Central and Latin America, the Caribbean, the European Union and countries in the Middle East.
Scheduled to open in the spring of 2025, the distribution center in central Florida will span 253,713 square feet and incorporate the latest advancements in cold storage design and construction. Situated on 70 acres, the facility will offer flexibility and scalability to accommodate G&C’s future growth trajectory in the southeastern United States.
“I’m extremely proud of our company becoming an integral part of the Alachua community. Our success today is built upon my family’s legacy of over 174 years in the food industry and unwavering faith,” said Dwight “Kip” Palmer, owner and chief executive officer of G&C Foods.
“We’re honored to have been chosen as G&C’s design-build partner for this impactful project,” said Josh Cronan, vice president of ARCOLD. “Leveraging our integrated design-build approach and proven construction experience with large scale complex cold storage projects, we’re excited to deliver a facility that supports their immediate and future needs for distribution and growth.”
