Ashford, Kent-based Brakes, a leading foodservice wholesaler in the United Kingdom, has launched Portico Seafood, a range of high quality frozen marine products. Sourced from specially selected fisheries, the line offers value and consistency to enable restaurant operators and institutional feeders to capitalize on the growing demand for alternative center of plate options.
Brakes and parent company Sysco are committed to protecting the fishing industry and fish stocks and ensuring that suppliers, partners and employees consider the environment at every part of the procurement and supply chain process.
The initial range on offer includes monkfish, Cornish sole (pictured above) and sea bass as well popular everyday menus items such as scampi, breaded cod, salmon fillets and prawns. The assortment is expected to expand to approximately 150 items over the next 18 months.
The Portico Seafood portfolio consists of two distinct tiers of products, Classic and Premium. Classic boasts high quality offerings that are equal to or better than other national or leading brands, while Portico Seafood Premium delivers exacting specifications and exceptional value.
