Nestlé USA has announced plans to invest $150 million to increase production at its food processing plant in Gaffney, South Carolina. The project includes a new line to make single-serve frozen meals in addition to enhanced automation and digital technology upgrades.
Nestlé, which operates 112 offices and facilities in the United States, opened the Gaffney facility in 1980. Among products in the company’s frozen food brand portfolio are Stouffer’s, Lean Cuisine and recently launched Vital Pursuit ready meals, Sweet Earth bowls, Hot Pockets sandwiches, and DiGiorno, Jack’s and Tombstone pizza.
“This investment further solidifies our dedication to the Gaffney community, where Nestlé has been an integral part for nearly 45 years. It also reflects our continued commitment to enhance our US manufacturing footprint and in-house capabilities,” said Nicole Caldwell, manager of the Gaffney factory.
“We are proud to be a long-time partner of Nestlé USA and celebrate the company’s decades-long legacy in one of our state’s rural communities. This $150 million investment is a major victory for Cherokee County, and we look forward to Nestlé’s continued success in the community for many years to come,” said Harry M. Lightsey III, South Carolina’s commerce secretary.
Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers added: “When we talk about the importance of agribusiness to South Carolina’s economy, we’re talking about companies like Nestlé USA. This food and beverage manufacturer has demonstrated its commitment to our state over many decades, providing jobs and serving the public. This expansion is great news for the state.”
