After debuting at Iceland specialty frozen food stores in UK under its “Brands on Ice” accelerator program, McCain Foods is set to launch it Vibes ridge-cut crisps and chips combo at Asda on January 23 before expanding distribution to Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Morrisons in March.
Boasting “the fluffiness of chips with the moreish crunch of a crisp,” the potato-based Firecracker Chilli and Salt & Vinegar offerings are promoted as potato-based hot snacks made to share and priced at £3 per 350g bag. The contents are ready to plate after 10 minutes in an air fryer or 20 minutes in a conventional oven.
“We are thrilled to introduce McCain Vibes, a truly innovative product that redefines the snacking experience,” said Mark Hodge, vice president of marketing. “We want to ignite excitement back into snacking and get the nation talking about whether Vibes is a crisp or a chip.”
