Johnsonville Sausage products, a staple for decades on outdoor BBQ grills and indoor kitchens throughout North America, are now available in convenient retail packs merchandized in the freezer sections of supermarkets and grocery stores. In addition to sausage, the Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin-based company has introduced frozen meatballs under its brand name.
Three kinds of meatballs were launched: Classic Italian, Homestyle and Three Cheese, each in 24-ounce, re-sealable Zip-Pak packaging. At the same time, two offerings of sausage slices debuted: Mild Italian and Hot & Spicy (the latter comes complete with peppers) in 22-ounce bags.
Made with premium cuts of pork and special blends of herbs and spices, all offerings are fully cooked, gluten free and devoid of MSG, artificial colors or other unnatural ingredients. The suggested retail price is $7.99.
Meatballs have long been a family favorite, but making them by hand is considered to be too time consuming for many busy homemakers today. “Now, from the freezer to the oven, stove or even the microwave, our new meatballs and sausage slices provide customers flavorful options for conveniently adding the popular protein to their pasta dishes, pizzas, sandwiches and appetizers,” said Valerie Zanchettin, senior brand manager.
Founded in 1945 by the late Ralph F. and Alice Stayer, Johnsonville Sausage, LLC is a privately-owned company that employs approximately 1,300 people. In addition to Italian sausage, its product line includes bratwurst, chorizo, smoked grilling links, and skillet-ready breakfast sausage links and patties. Distribution is nationwide as well to 30 or more countries outside the United States, among them Japan, France, Mexico and Canada.
