Bremerhaven, Germany-headquartered FRoSTA has added two new items to its assortment of frozen products with a V-label, certifying that they are all right for vegetarians or vegans. Tortellini Käse-Sahne, with cheese and cream, joins Pappardelle Creme Spinaci and Tortellini Tomaten-Sahne as the company’s third Italian vegetarian offering. The new Wok Mango Curry, a second Oriental offering, is in response wishes from consumers for additional vegan dishes like Couscous Oriental, the other Asian one.
Meanwhile, sales for FRoSTA AG were reported as slightly higher during the first nine months of 2013 than they were in the comparable period of 2012. The firm attributed the increase to positive developments of the FRoSTA brand in Germany, Hungary and Poland, and to a EUR 2 million saving in fixed costs.
Looking ahead, the company expects competition to continue to be tough during the remainder of the year.
FRoSTA produces a wide assortment of products from four factories in Germany and Poland, ranging from ready meals and fish dishes to vegetables and fruits. Its leading positions were reportedly maintained in branded frozen ready meals in Germany and frozen fish in Eastern Europe during the first nine months of 2013.
Total turnover generated by the company in 2012 amounted to EUR 380 million, down from EUR 385 million in 2011.
