While the pandemic perils of Covid-19 have forced cancellation of the traditional face-to-face AFFI-CON gathering in 2021, the American Frozen Food Institute’s transition to a virtual platform has thus far attracted more than 150 companies to schedule one-on-one meetings for the event slated for February 17-26.
In the past, before the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) health crisis wreaked havoc in virtually every country and territory of the world, the annual gathering brought together approximately 1,500 delegates from over 600 companies representing sectors ranging from processors and ingredients suppliers to logistics partners, packaging manufacturers, importers, exporters, distributors and others.
This year’s virtual program includes enhanced education sessions to provide insights designed to help frozen food companies navigate in the so-called “new normal” environment imposed by government restrictions meant to mitigate the ongoing Covid-19 threat.
Keynote speaker Duncan Wardle, former head of innovation and creativity for the Walt Disney Company, will kick off AFFI-CON by sharing real world stories and lessons learned from more than 25 years of experience in leadership roles at Disney that may inspire attendees to think differently about frozen food innovation.
Also on tap is the unveiling of the 2021 Power of Frozen in retailing report. The latest research from AFFI and the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) examines consumers’ frozen food purchasing behavior to deliver insight on how to maintain double-digit gains and optimize purchasing beyond the Covid-19 pandemic.
AFFI President and CEO Alison Bodor promises that the virtual event will deliver eight days of meetings and educational insights on a number of interesting topics, including global trade, food safety and e-commerce.
She added that the searchable event platform will make it easy to find buyers and suppliers, build brand awareness and showcase all that companies have to offer.
