The Arlington, Virginia-headquartered American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) is hosting two educational gatherings for food safety professionals this fall – the virtual Food Safety Forum and the in-person Food Safety Consortium. The events will cover critical topics such as food chemical review and federal preemption and offer updated technical information for food industry leaders, regulatory officials and quality assurance professionals.

Scheduled to take place on September 17, The Food Safety Forum will provide a comprehensive look at chemical food safety. The virtual dialogue promises to bring together food safety professionals, toxicologists, policy advocates, legal experts and regulatory officials to engage in a balanced and compelling discussion on the safety of food ingredients and importance of federal authority. It will feature a series of sessions designed to provide a holistic view of the current regulatory landscape, proposed reforms, and the evolving discussion surrounding food additives and safety standards.

Key topics of the event include:

State and Federal Regulations. Explore the roles of state and federal regulations on businesses and consumer safety.

FDA Oversight and Reforms. Examine the US Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) role in overseeing food ingredients, proposed reforms and post-market review processes.

Legal Perspectives. Address the legal ramifications of food ingredient safety regulations and equip food companies with strategies for compliance in a complex environment.
