Popcorn Scampi Bites is the latest frozen product offered by Grimsby, England-headquartered Young’s Foodservice.It features hand-peeled scampi from the UK and Ireland blended with wild Alaska pollock and wrapped in crispy breadcrumbs.
Distribution is in one-kilogram bags that are packed five per case. Taking only a few minutes to prepare via deep frying, or a bit longer if baked, the Popcorn Scampi Bites are being promoted as snack items ideal for menus at restaurants pubs and schools. They may also be served as part of full meal occasions.
“We’ve been proudly serving Britain’s favorite Scampi since Young’s created it in 1946,” said Adrian Greaves, the company’s foodservice director. “This new format is perfect for any occasion, either as a delicious main meal or as the perfect sharing platter. Quick and convenient for both the operator and consumer, they deliver a contemporary and moreish take on a classic.”
Young’s is a major supplier to the retail and industrial seafood channels, in addition the foodservice sector. In the UK, the company claims to supply 17.3% of all seafood servings. It extensive line runs the gamut from fish fingers and fillets to many value-added shellfish products and ready meals.
