Amy’s Organic and Vegetarian Drive Thru Rolls into Southern California

Amy’s Drive Thru, the USA’s first organic, vegetarian fast food restaurant, has opened a fifth unit in Thousand Oaks, California. It joins the growing chain’s other Golden State operations in Rohnert Park, Corte Madera, Roseville and San Francisco Airport.

Each menu item is made to order, including burgers, fries and milkshakes, using organic and non-GMO ingredients. On top of that, every item offered can be made gluten-free and vegan. The top seller is The Amy, a double veggie patty made with double cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and Fred Sr.’s secret sauce (regular or spicy).  Other favorites include organic chili, sweet potato fries, gluten-free and vegan pizzas.

“Since we started Amy’s Drive Thru in 2015, Southern California has been on our radar. Our passion is making great-tasting organic fast food convenient and accessible, and the Thousand Oaks community couldn’t be a more natural fit,” said Andy Berliner, co-founder of Amy’s Drive Thru and Amy’s Kitchen, the Petaluma, California-based organic and natural frozen food manufacturer that offers over 135 products, including many options across gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, lactose-free, soy-free, tree nut-free, corn-free, Kosher D, Kosher DE, and light in sodium categories.

Eco-Friendly Dining Space

As with the other four Amy’s Drive Thru units, the new restaurant operate as sustainably as possible and strive for net zero and low environmental impact. Its 4,060 squad feet of space utilizes sustainably sourced building materials and provides seating for 110 people. It is outfitted with solar shading and electric vehicle charging stations, and food is served in compostable packaging.

The first B Corp certified company collaborated with the City of Thousand Oaks on a first-of-its-kind water reuse program where repurposed water is used in the restaurant and outdoor garden.
