Interstate Warehousing, Inc. has broken ground in Anderson, Indiana, USA for construction of another public refrigerated warehouse (PRW) in the Hoosier State. Phase I of the project is a 250,000-square-foot facility built by Tippmann Construction, with site work scheduled to begin in December. The 76-acre property has room for expansion to more than 1,000,000 square feet.
Interstate Warehousing, a Tippmann Group company, has a strong presence in the Hoosier State, with corporate offices in Fort Wayne and two large coldstores in the Indianapolis area. The company maintains more than 100 million cubic feet of temperature controlled warehouse space at seven facilities in six states located from Virginia to Colorado, making it the sixth biggest PRW operator in the United States.
“We chose Anderson because it was a good strategic fit for our business,” said John Tippmann, Jr., president of Tippmann Group/Interstate Warehousing. “This location will provide us with additional opportunities to expand our customer base, and continue to grow our company.”
The $30 million capital investment will bring approximately 60 jobs to Anderson after the building is completed in the third quarter of 2018. The state-of-the-art facility will be a multi-temperature storage warehouse with approximately 30,000 pallet positions.
