The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) and RLS Logistics have announced the Anthony M. Leo WFLO Scholarship, created to cover the costs of  worthy third-party cold chain logistics industry employees to attend the WFLO Institute for each of the three years of the program.

One person will be selected during the first year, with Newfield, New Jersey, USA-headquartered RLS Logistics contributing funds to provide a second scholarship.

Before his passing in March, Leo (pictured above) was a highly active member of the Arlington, Virginia-based GCCA, serving as treasurer of the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses’ board of directors, participating on numerous committees, and making presentations at events. As a member of GCCA’s original Leadership Forum share group he generously gave time, experience, and perspective for the betterment of colleagues and the industry as a whole, and was a passionate advocate for training and educating the next generation of future cold chain leaders.

GCCA members are invited to send up-and-coming leaders from their companies to the WFLO Institutes and propose candidates for the Anthony M. Leo WFLO Scholarship. Nominations will be accepted through July 14, and additional information is available by contacting Shane Jacques, the trade association’s director of training and talent development.

Donations for the scholarship fund are welcomed, and thus far contributions have been received from the Fisk Family, Bryan Hedge, Lone Star Cold Storage, the Michael and Trish McClendon Foundation, Midwest Refrigerated, Minnesota Freezer Warehouse Company, MW Cold, RLS Logistics, San Diego Refrigerated Services and SnoTemp.
