A new line of five frozen meat joints to feature as centerpieces in roast dinners has been launched by Aunt Bessie’s Foods, the Hull, England-based subsidiary of Nomad Foods. Now available at Iceland and Food Warehouse stores, as well as online, the offerings range from move Crackling Pork Joint with Salt and Pepper (1kg) and Beef Topside Joint with Salt and Black Pepper (600g), to Bacon Topped Chicken Crown (850g), Honey Glazed Gammon (1kg) and Bacon Topped Turkey Joint (700g).
All five of the joints come in a ready-to-cook foil tray and can be prepared once defrosted or straight from the freezer for ultimate convenience. With the introduction of these meat joints, shoppers are now able to buy full roast dinners for just £12, as part of a new roast dinner bundle that consists of a meat centerpiece and three side dishes or desserts.
As 56% of consumers in the UK are reportedly spending less on eating out and a further 23% are considering doing so to save money, the price of the deal is three times less than that of a family meal of four at a leading carvery [Toby Carvery website as of November 21, 2022 ].
“The new frozen meat joints build on Aunt Bessie’s existing category vision, making frozen a destination for meal inspiration and providing simple but complete meal solutions for shoppers,” said Andrew Dale, senior brand manager. “Roast dinners are synonymous with long preparation times and pre-planning – but with our meat joints consumers can cook a roast dinner with greater convenience and for less cost.”
He added: “With frozen in growth at +9.8% in the last 12 weeks, it is launches like this within the frozen category that continue to appeal to shoppers. The new meat joints offer the benefit and convenience of frozen alongside good value for money, which is particularly sought after given the current cost of living situation. We want to be able to help shoppers get maximum taste and value for what they’re buying for minimum cost and preparation time.”
In addition to one meat selection, the Aunt Bessie’s roast dinner bundle includes a choice of any three of the following sides: Golden Yorkshires (12); Crispy & Fluffy Roasties (600g); Fluffy & Buttery Mashed Potato (650g); Sage & Onion Stuffing Balls (12); Honey Glazed Parsnips (500g); Sweet & Tasty Carrot & Swede Mash (500g); Cauliflower Cheese (380g); Proper Apple Pie (550g); Scrumptious Apple Crumble (500g).
