B&G Foods, which owns the Green Giant frozen vegetable brand, Le Sueur canned vegetable label and a wide range of non-frozen brand names, has named Kenneth G. Romanzi to the newly created position of executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective December 4. He will report directly to Robert C. Cantwell, president and ceo of the Parsippany, New Jersey, USA-headquartered company.
“After more than doubling the size of our business over the past two years, we believe now is an excellent time to supplement our already very strong executive management team with another highly talented executive,” said Cantwell. “Ken Romanzi is a proven leader with extensive experience in the food and beverage industry. As chief operating officer he will have a broad range of responsibilities as we continue to execute our growth strategy.”
Most recently, Romanzi served as president, fresh foods at WhiteWave Foods Corp. for 17 months, where he led Earthbound Farm Organic. Prior to joining WhiteWave, he was senior vice president and chief operating officer, global brands of Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. from 2013 to 2015, and served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of Ocean Spray’s North American food and beverage business from 2004 to 2013.
Meanwhile, Bruce C. Wacha is scheduled to assume the post of executive vice president of finance and chief financial officer on November 27. He joined the company in August as executive vice president of corporate strategy and business development.
Wacha came to B&G Foods from Amira Nature Foods Ltd., where he spent three years as that company’s chief financial officer and executive director of the board of directors. Prior to working for Amira Nature Foods, Wacha spent more than 15 years in the financial services industry at Deutsche Bank Securities, Merrill Lynch and Prudential Securities, where he advised corporate clients across the food, beverage and consumer products landscape.
