Fresh frozen pasta brand Beroni has secured its second major listing after online grocery retailer Ocado confirmed it will be stocking the product with immediate effect.
Ocado will carry all three varieties of the product – penne, fusilli and macaroni – in recyclable 1kg bags with an estimated RRP of around £3 per pack. It follows the brand’s first multiple listing with Waitrose in January.
The Beroni fresh range feature restaurant quality ‘al dente’ pasta that can be made at home in as little as 30 seconds. It contains no preservatives or additives and is also suitable for vegans.
‘I am really excited about the launch of Beroni’s range of frozen pasta on Ocado.com,” said frozen food buyer Thomas Gray. “We have seen amazing growth this year, increasing our market share. The product is perfect for a quality conscious customer or a busy family.”
Beroni pasta dough is prepared by mixing French durum wheat semolina with water. The dough is then shaped into penne, fusilli or macaroni before being cooked ‘al dente’ and then immediately frozen to preserve its freshness.
The product is manufactured in the United Kingdom by Ebrofrost, which has supplied fresh frozen pasta to restaurants around the world since 1998, Beroni is a three-way joint venture with FMCG and retail specialist Bridgethorne, which handle all commercial and marketing activity, and Food Team International, which is in charge of retail distribution and logistics.
