Beyond Meat, the El Segundo, California-headquartered faux meat specialist, has debuted plant-based Beyond Chicken Tenders at approximately 400 restaurants in the USA. Detroit Wing Company, Romeo’s Pizza, Blissful Burgers and Dog Haus are among the chains now offering the product.
Crafted to look, cook and taste like traditional animal-based chicken tenders, they boast 14 grams of protein per serving and have 40% less saturated fat than typical chicken tenders sold at foodservice outlets. Made from peas and faba beans, the “better for you” option contains no GMOs, antibiotics, hormones or cholesterol.
The company best known for Beyond Burger retail products plans to add more chicken meat substitutes to its growing portfolio in the future. Ethan Brown, its chief executive officer, will discuss the foodservice sector launch and answer questions about the Beyond Meat product line during a Reddit AMA session on July 12 at 12:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time.
