After by then having served more than 10 years as chief executive of the British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF), Brian Young plans to relinquish the helm in the spring of 2017. Recruitment efforts to find his replacement will begin in January.
“We continue to act and develop as an organization to ensure we are fit for purpose for the future. With this in mind, in just over 15 months our esteemed chief executive, Brian, will be retiring, and we have already started planning for a smooth and effective succession,” stated BFFF President Peter Allan during the organization’s recently held annual luncheon in London.
Headquartered in Long Bennington, Newark, UK, the trade association’s 340 member companies include frozen food producers, wholesalers, importers, exporters, brokers, retailers, equipment and packaging manufacturers, and related associate businesses.
Young joined BFFF as director-general with 15 years of experience as managing director at Sundora Foods, Tryton Foods and Aunt Bessies. He has increased membership, modernized its structure and initiated a variety of new services and activities including an annual business conference.
In announcing Young’s pending retirement, Allan also highlighted the federation’s achievements in the last 12 months, including a successful effort to persuade the European Commission to amend its proposed “frozen on date” regulations, the recruitment of a record number of new members, and the appointment of Paul Murray as the new head of commercial activities.
Commenting on Allan’s remarks, Young said: “There is still much for me to do and this announcement will help ensure a smooth succession to enable us to build on the momentum and influence BFFF and its members have achieved in recent years.”
