Marking its 10-year anniversary on April 20, Denver, Colorado-headquartered Cappello’s set out to reinvigorate the frozen ravioli category with the official rollout of gluten- and grain-free pasta treats. Its Five Cheese recipe boasts a filling of ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, fontina and asiago cheeses, while the Spinach & Cheese SKU features spinach paired with creamy ricotta cheese.
Each pillowy ravioli, which includes a Butternut Squash variety, is made using Cappello’s signature almond flour pasta that has become a favorite of foodies and families alike. They are nutrient-dense with 16-17 grams of protein and healthy fats per serving, and preparation time is under eight minutes.
Already creating buzz in the natural foods community, the ravioli has been selected as a finalist in the NEXTY Awards competition that will culminate during this year’s Expo West virtual event scheduled to take place from May 24-27. Commenting on the entry, judges have noted in a joint statement that “it takes a creative commitment to innovation to produce pasta this good without grain.”
Cappello’s Almond Flour Ravioli products are priced at $9.99 at Whole Foods Market stores throughout the United States, and beginning on May 11 purchases may be made online at www.cappellos.com/pasta for $11. Meanwhile, the company plans to debut a dairy-free ravioli option this summer.
